In parallel with the widespread use of the Internet, the increase in the use of personal computers and smart devices and the storage of personal information in digital environments, the number of unauthorized access to this information has increased. The concept of unauthorized access and hacker (cybercrime) has revealed the concept of cybercrime. In order to combat these threats that affect even the states, the discipline of Digital Forensics Engineering has emerged. The word Forensic comes from the Latin FORENSIS, which means "before the forum". The term stems from the times in Rome, during which time a burden of punishment means presenting the case before a group of public officials at the forum. Thus, there are great risks for the institutions operating in this field. Faced with a different concept of crime than the concept of classic crime, security units began to deal with these issues. Thus, the concept of informatics crime has become recognized at the state level. While technological developments provide many benefits to institutions, it is inevitable for criminals to use these technologies. Our department was established for the purpose of forensic monitoring, analyzing and combating cybercrime, gathering evidence about information law, information security, cyber security and information crime.
 
All the institutions in our country have internet infrastructure and most of these institutions store their information in electronic environment. With the e-government application, all citizens' information is stored in digital form. In addition, private companies, businesses, holdings and so on. uses internet and information technologies effectively.
 
The widespread use of information technologies has revealed the necessity of protecting this information. It is seen that measures are being taken in our country in terms of information security which is important for the whole world. At this point, requirements such as providing information security, intervening in cybercrime and incidents have occurred.
 
Forensic information engineering is a branch of engineering aiming to train experts in all these subjects.
 
Forensic informatics engineering aims to specialize in this field with basic engineering education and field related courses.
 
The training has three main objectives.
 
The first purpose is to prevent the damage of the institution by taking the necessary measures before the crime occurs in the institutions and organizations. The first objective of forensic information engineering is to select, plan, correctly configure and secure information systems by taking necessary security measures, to make necessary pentest applications for an institution or organization, to detect and prevent attacks.
 
The second objective is to accurately retrieve, analyze and report data on crimes committed through information systems. Collecting, protecting, forensic copies of the evidence related to the crime, analyzing the evidence with the tools appropriate to the nature of the evidence, reporting the findings obtained, using the necessary forensic examination hardware and software for performing these procedures, acquiring the information in terms of judicial information is the second but forensic engineering.
 
The third objective is to have sufficient knowledge of the legal regulations related to digital crimes in the country where the education is provided. For this reason, it is necessary to gain knowledge about the legal regulations and responsibilities of the country where the education is given in the curriculum.
 
The practical and theoretical courses required for the achievement of the three main objectives were determined and it was aimed for the students to have sufficient knowledge after graduation.
